WORKS BEGIN ON LONG TRENCH/JOHNSON’S GHUT ROAD PROJECT

The Ministry of Transportation Works and Utilities in collaboration with the Recovery and Development Agency (RDA) have commenced construction works on the Johnson’s Ghut road and it is expected to last approximately four (4) months.
This project is funded under the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) reconstruction and rehabilitation loan.
Contractors Autland Heavy Equipment Co. Ltd. was awarded the contract and will construct two retaining wall structures, reestablish the pavement, stabilise slope, and erect guard rails.
A government release said the project area will be transformed into a single lane roadway for the duration of the works.
It said Motorists will be temporarily inconvenienced during excavation works, additionally, temporary road closures will be required during concrete pours.
The release said that the public will be advised when major traffic disruptions and road closures are scheduled so that they have adequate time to plan alternate routes.
