EDUCATION MINISTER SAYS MOULD ISSUE AT FRANCIS LETTSOME PRIMARY SCHOOL IS CURRENTLY BEING ADDRESSED

Written by on September 13, 2021

Education Minister Dr. Natalio Wheatley says the Francis Lettsome Primary School is being cleaned to help address the mould issue.

Last week, Leader of the Opposition and Eight District Representative Marlon Penn said he was informed by a parent that the school was not opened on Monday because of maintenance issues.

Penn said pictures were shared with him and the school has a serious issue with mould, infrastructure and a lot of the furnishings were thrown away.

He questioned why the problems at the school were not addressed before the scheduled re-opening and why the principal only became aware of the conditions at the school when she arrived there. However, speaking under Other Business in the House of Assembly, Minister Wheatley sought to explain how the situation came about.

The Education Minister said that the possibility of online schooling was looked at for about one to two weeks, but he approached the churches which stepped in to assist.
