VISITS TO THE PRISON SUSPENDED BECAUSE OF RISING COVID CASES

Written by on January 11, 2022

Visitation to the Prison at Balsum Ghut has been suspended until further notice.

Governor John Rankin and Minister for Health and Social Development, Carvin Malone have agreed that there be a suspension of the visitation because of the rising increase in Covid-19 cases.

Meanwhile the Magistrates Court has also taken measures because of the rising cases.

The Magistrates Court said as they live and work with COVID-19 in the Territory, it will not be conducting in-person hearings from January 10 to 24 in the first instance. It said that persons who have travelled outside the Territory within the last 14 days are advised not to visit the office and only customers making payments will be allowed in the building until further notice, providing that they do not exhibit COVID-19 symptoms.
