SPEAKER OF THE HOA WITHDRAWS INJUNCTION ABOUT COI LAWYERS AFTER NOT GETTING SUPPORT FROM THE ATTORNEY GENERAL

After not getting the necessary support from Attorney General Dawn Smith, Speaker of the House of Assembly Julian Willock and his legal team of Silk Legal, have been forced to withdraw an injunction against 3 lawyers of the Commission of Inquiry which they claim are practicing law illegally in the BVI.
Willock and his lawyers filed an injunction in the court requesting that the 3 COI’s Lawyers Bilal Rawat, Andrew King and Rhea Harrikissoon not allowed to continue to practice because they have not been called to the BVI Bar and they are in breach of the Legal Profession Act.
Commercial Court Judge Adrian Jack had requested Willock and his team to re-submit their injunction by changing the word inquisition which the court found to be inappropriate and replace it with commission.
Justice Jack told Willock to resubmit the injunction by 4 pm on Wednesday or it will be thrown out.
Lawyer Richard Rowe said the injunction was withdrawn because they did not get the support from the Attorney General.
Rowe said the next move will be to take on the Attorney General in court on this matter. He further said it’s unfortunate that the Bar Association in the BVI has not taken up the issue.
