Written by on September 3, 2021

An additional 2,000 AstraZeneca vaccines arrived in the Territory on August 31 as part of the United Kingdom Government’s commitment to the VI’s vaccination programme.

Acting Governor, David Archer, Jr. and Minister for Health and Social Development, Carvin Malone received the vaccines at the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport on behalf of the Government and people of the Virgin Islands.

To date, the total number of vaccines received from the UK is 37,040 which the Acting Governor believes has contributed significantly to the overall health of the Territory’s citizens. He noted that it is important that everyone remain responsive in taking the vaccine so that assistance can continue to be provided.

The Acting Governor said, “The UK’s commitment to the VI’s overall health is evident as they continue working together to ensure that their citizens are protected from the effects of the Coronavirus. He said it is important to note that while they continue to receive assistance, they must do their part and take the vaccine so that they can continue to receive assistance.”
