COMMISSIONER FOR COI SAYS ITS DISCOURTEOUS NO RESPONSE TO EMAILS SENT, BUT ONE OF GOVERNMENT’S LAWYERS BLAMED THE WORKLOAD

Written by on October 8, 2021

One of the lawyers representing the government in the ongoing Commission of Inquiry – COI, Martha Eker-Male of Withers, has assured commissioner Sir Gary Hickenbottom, that the Attorney General’s Legal team is not being discourteous to him.

During Tuesday’s COI, Hickenbottom said on the 21st of September, he wrote the Attorney General, not as the representative of the elected Ministers, asking for her assistance, in respect to legal matters which have arisen in respect of the Assistance Grant Programme.

Hickenbottom says he made it clear then that he wanted to deal with any oral submissions in relation to these matters. He however says that there was no response from the AG and her legal team and he finds this to be very discourteous.
