BVI records 3rd Covid-19 related death, this time a 72 year old man

The territory recorded a third Covid-19 related death on Friday, July 9th.

The second death was recorded on Thursday July 8th and was that of a 32-year-old male. The Ministry of Health and Social Development confirmed that the third deceased is a 72-year-old male with underlying medical conditions. At the time of his death the deceased was a patient at the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital. Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ronald Georges said it is sad to report another death just one day after their second COVID related death was confirmed and has expressed condolences and sincere sympathy to the family and friends of the deceased.

Meanwhile Dr. Georges said they could see as much as 1000 cases in a week’s time and about 100 people requiring hospitalization, and they suspect the delta variant is present in the territory.
