The Cabinet of the Virgin Islands decided today to extend the length of the current curfew which was expected to end on 2nd April. The announcement was made today by the Honourable Premier, Andrew Fahie joined by His Excellency, the Governor and Minister of Health & Social Development. This comes after the announcement of an additional positive COVID-19 case on 30 March. This brings the total positive cases to 3.
According to Governor Jaspert, the new curfew will take effect from 2nd April until 16th April in the first instance. During the hours of 6:00AM – 6:00 PM, a limited and managed curfew will be implemented whereby persons are allowed to leave their homes only to conduct essential business such as grocery shopping, banking, medical care etc. During the hours of 6:00PM-6:00AM however, an absolute curfew will be in effect meaning no one should be outside of their homes for any reason unless they are authorised Essential Workers.
Further details and guidance on the curfew extension will be made available on 1st April to the public.
