TWO NEW IMPORTED CASES OF COVID-19 IN THE TERRITORY

Written by on August 19, 2020

After announcing last Friday August 14th that the 9th case of Covid-19 had recovered, Health Minister Carvin Malone said Monday night that the territory has recorded two new cases.

Minister Malone said that both patients had recently returned to the Territory, quarantined in accordance with the established health protocols and were tested at the end of their 14-day quarantine period.

Both persons will remain in isolation where they will be monitored; administered the necessary treatment services and thereafter re-tested by the BVI Health Services Authority until recovered.

Hon. Carvin Malone

Minister Malone took the opportunity to extend best wishes to both individuals for a full and rapid recovery.

He said this is another instance where their investments in various border control measures are serving the intended purpose of detecting imported cases and containing them in ways that limit the possibility of person-to-person community transmission of the virus in the Territory.

The Minister for Health also highlighted other protective measures including the border patrols being conducted by the Joint Task Force comprised of Customs, Immigration and the RVI Police Force to help guard against illegal entry and condemned persons from attempting to enter illegally as it could bring harm to the Territory.
