TWO HOME INVASIONS HOURS APART, IN VIRGIN GORDA AND TORTOLA

Written by on September 21, 2020

The territory has been rocked by two home invasions, one in Virgin Gorda and the other in Beef Island, which reportedly played out like a movie.

Following the first incident on Friday in Virgin Gorda, the Police Information Office said that Police are seeking the assistance of the public in helping to identify three masked men who entered the residence of a Virgin Gorda resident.

The Office said it has been confirmed that on Friday, September 18th, during afternoon hours, the men entered the home of an employee of EMC Construction armed with a firearm and straps and tied up his family, demanding his whereabouts.

It is alleged that the gunmen had attempted to gain access to the home of one of the female who was alone at the time by disguising as an officials of a phone company.

However, the female became very suspicious by his aggressiveness in getting her to open the door. This allegedly prompted her to call to her father, and unsuccessful in reaching him at the time, she subsequently called a friend and in the process made her escape from the home but was spotted and chased after and captured by one of the armed men.

Following a struggle, she was taken in the home and bound. Meantime the friend in the company of another went over to see what was going and they too were lured into the home, bound and held at gun point.

According to our information it was after the bandits realized that one of the women’s phone had an active call that they fled the scene.

And just hours after the Virgin Gorda incident, another family fell victim to a similar crime… this time it occurred on the Island of Tortola.

Reports are that a couple residing on the East End of Tortola in the vicinity of the Beef Island bridge was about to secure their home to retire for the night when the husband came face to face with two armed masked men.

It is alleged that the husband and wife were accosted and tied up as the masked men ransacked their belongings.

The bandits made off less than $1k in cash, significantly valuable amount of jewelry, their cell phones and an ipad.

This occurred sometime shortly after 8:30pm Friday September 18
