STAFF AT BVIHSA WHO CHOSE NOT TO BE VACCINATED, MUST NOW TEST FOR COVID BI-WEEKLY

Staff at the BVI Health Services Authority, BVIHSA who have reservations about being vaccinated will now be required to test bi-weekly.
The BVIHSA in a release on Friday said that in light of the recent discovery of the Delta Variant in the Territory, it has as a staff protection measure has issued a dual-strata COVID 19 vaccination safety policy that took effect on 20th August, 2021.
It said that as the frontline organization for COVID 19 response, the BVI Health Services Authority has been directly hit by the pandemic, which also unfortunately claimed the life of a member of staff.
Against this backdrop, the BVIHSA said a decision was made by management to introduce a dual-strata approach that will minimize the impact of the virus on the organization and community. Additionally, this serves as an extra layer of protection against this strain of the virus or any other emerging mutation.
According to the BVIHSA one stratum, advocates for vaccination, and the other option provides a compliance pathway for members of staff who are averse to being vaccinated. Staff members who have reservations about taking the vaccine due to medical, religious or other personal reasons, may opt for the second option, it said this stratum, requires that said staff member agrees to be tested for the COVID 19 virus biweekly, noting that such frequent testing is essential as a risk management measure for members of staff and the patients that they care for.
