A Special Select Committee of the House of Assembly will determine whether the Speaker – Julian Willock in his personal capacity, will bear the cost of a failed injunction filed in the court, or if it will be paid by the tax payers.
The court ruled that Willock should stand the cost in the failed injunction that sought to prevent the Commission of Inquiry lawyers from practicing until they were called to the local bar.
There have been much criticism and protest action indicating that the Premier should withdraw the motion and for Willock to pay cost for the COI’s defendants.
In presenting an amended motion to the House on Wednesday, Premier Andrew Fahie said government continues to listen to the people and respects those persons who do not agree and support his government but they have a right to disagree and to free speech.
Premier Fahie said the Select Committee of the House will be able to sit and have the powers similar to a COI, but within this scope alone, to gather all information, all correspondences and even interview persons and then bring a full report back to the House of Assembly in two months’ time.
