SPEAKER OF THE HOA TAKES BRIEF RECESSES FOLLOWING THE TRADING OF BARBS BETWEEN PREMIER AND OPPOSITION LEADER

Speaker of the House of Assembly Julian Willock was forced to recess the House for a short while last Thursday to allow Premier Andrew Fahie and the Leader of the Opposition Marlon Penn to ‘calm their nerves’ after back and forth bickering between them.
The problem arose when the opposition leader asked the Premier for the details and cumulative amount of all monies owed to vendors and contractors and individuals from January 1st, 2019 to 10th May, 2021 by the BVI Ports Authority.
After answering the question, the Finance Minister further said he knows of two other issues that the Leader of the Opposition will be able to answer and that is, the monies owed for 2016 and the money he took from the East End Long Look Sewerage to put in the Pier Park Project.
The Premier’s statement caused the Speaker to caution both persons and asked them to follow the guidelines of the House.
