Claude Skelton Cline Tells BVIEC To Do Better With It’s Amnesty Programme

Social Commentator Claude Skelton Cline has strongly criticized the BVI Electricity Corporation, BVIEC on its Amnesty programme.
BVIEC announced that small businesses and residents affected by COVID-19 can now register for the Amnesty Programme as part of the Government’s Economic Response Package.
General Manager of BVIEC, Leroy Abraham, outlined the electricity bill amnesty conditions and added that applicants registering for the programme must have all bills paid up to April 2020.
There will be a cap of $80 for domestic customers and a cap of $150 for small businesses for bills for the months of May, June, and July 2020. Bills over the caps must be paid prior to continuing in the programme.

Skelton Cline however thinks it needs to be revisited. He said it does not go far enough, and to ask persons to ensure that the April bills are up to date, is draconian, since the entire territory was in lockdown during that period.
Skelton Cline said the BVIEC is only frustrating customers and businesses and not trying to help.
