SAHARAN DUST AFFECTING BVI
Written by Fuze Team on June 23, 2020
The Department of Disaster Management is advising the public that the Saharan Dust Layer will continue to affect the territory through to Thursday of this week and persons with respiratory problems are being urged to protect themselves.
Saharan Dust is a common occurrence during this time of the year, however, this is the thickest it has been seen within recent times.
Emergency Communications Manager at the DDM Jasen Penn said they received a report last week that a big plume of Saharan Dust would be crossing the Atlantic and its effects would be felt here and other Caribbean Islands.
There are environmental effects, as hazy conditions, low visibility, warmer temperatures, and dust accumulating indoors and outdoors.

Penn is also advising persons at sea, such as boaters to take precautions as their visibility could be impaired by the dust.
