ROTARY DISTRICT GOVERNOR FOR 7020 THROWS SUPPORT BEHIND RYAN GELUK

Rotary District for District 7020, Delma Maduro has given her full vote of confidence and support to the incoming Assistant Governor Ryan Geluk.
Reports surfaced this week, that some Rotarians have written a letter to the District objecting to Geluk becoming the Assistant Governor because of his work which involved the BVI Airways matter.
However, it is noted that Geluk’s role in the BVI Airways Matter was that he warned the then government about the financial risks of the BVI Airways deal and offered recommendations.
In a news release, Maduro said that Past President and Assistant Governor Elect Ryan Geluk is a Rotarian who embodies the ideals and principles of Rotary and was recently recognised by the Immediate Past District Governor with the Rotary Avenues of Service Award for outstanding efforts in each of the Avenues of Service.
Maduro said she is full support of District Governor-Elect Charles Sealey’s appointment of Geluk as Assistant Governor of the BVI for the Rotary Year 2020-2021 beginning 1st July 2020, and she has no doubt that he will do an excellent job.
The District Governor said she was copied on one email impersonating a Rotarian and business person, who presently and formerly has held prominent leadership roles in the public and private sectors in the Territory, about this matter.
According to her, this fraudulent email message was turned over to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force about 3 months ago.
Maduro said she can confirm that no Rotarian has ever approached the Assistant Governor of the BVI, nor her as District Governor for the respective 10 countries of their region, about Geluk’s fitness for the position of BVI Assistant Governor.
