RETURNING NATIONALS FACE STIGMA DUE TO COVID-19

Some returning nationals are facing eviction and discrimination because of COVID-19 fears.
Health Minister Carvin Malone told the House of Assembly, that the Health Emergency Operation Centre, HEOC has flagged several issues related to the mandatory quarantine arrangements for persons who have been cleared to re-enter the Territory since June 2020.
According to the Minister, one of these involved discrimination against and eviction of returning nationals who are subjected to mandatory quarantine by landlords due to fears and stigma around COVID-19.
A lot of communication would be required to dismiss most of these fears as it is a preventative measure to save lives and livelihood and not an indication of the presence of the COVID-19 virus.
