Premier Andrew Fahie sought on Monday evening to bring some clarity and to justify why his government at this time when the BVI is experiencing the covid 19 pandemic and people are dying to employ 9 political advisors.
In a late night address that lasted more than 40 minutes, the Premier says this issue of employing political advisors has been tossed around by Governments for the last 20 years and has been further compounded since the addition of Junior Ministers in the new Constitution of 2007, as it is one of great concern to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the elected Government. The Premier says since taking office, government recognised that there are certain changes that must be made in the way the public service and the Government system work, also they have encountered certain problems with pushing forward the mandate for which they were elected.
He however says these problems are not unique to this Administration as they are issues that also hampered past Governments.
