PREMIER FAHIE SAYS ASKING FOR THE UK NAVY TO PROTECT THE BORDERS IS THE LAST RESORT

Premier and Minister of Finance Andrew has said that asking for the UK Navy’s help in protecting the borders is the last resort, as he has full confidence in their capabilities.
During a statement Tuesday, August 26th, Governor Augustus Jaspert said that there was a previous offer from the UK to help to bolster the Territory’s border security in the early days of Covid-19, however that offer was not supported at the time.
The Governor said he will be discussing with the National Security Council what support might now be needed and will update in due course.
However, during a press conference, Premier Fahie sought to bring further clarity to the issue.
