Premier Andrew Fahie says the United Kingdom wants to treat the people of the BVI like second class citizens and hold them to a standard that they themselves don’t adhere to.
Premier Fahie’s comments were made as he appeared before the Commission of Inquiry on Monday, October 11th answering questions relating to belonger status.
The Premier told the COI’s Commissioner that when his administration took office in 2019, they took on Belonger status as a major area for urgent action and they regularized over 1000 applications and long-standing persons that they inherited.
He told the Commissioner that the BVI is not being treated equally by the UK, in fact the people of the BVI are treated like second class citizens and not with respect.
