The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force says it is continuing the search for escaped prisoner Germaine Sebastian and is seeking the public’s help.
Prison officials stated that Sebastian made his escape as he was leaving the prison farm and reentering the main entrance gate around 11am on Saturday.
He was seen running in the direction of Hawks Nest.
Police have described Sebastian, 40, as being about 5’9 tall, dark in complexion and weighs about 170 pounds. He last resided in the East End area and is most familiar with individuals living in that area.
Acting Assistant Commissioner St. Clair Amory noted that while members of the public may feel sympathetic towards Sebastian, it is vital for his safety and that of the public that he is quickly recaptured.
Amory said it is important that matters of verdicts and sentencing be appealed in court and not in the court of public opinion.
He said Sebastian was in prison serving a sentence handed down by the court.
Police say persons found facilitating or harbouring this escaped prisoner will be charged. Therefore, those who know Sebastian’s whereabouts are asked to assist Police in his recapture. Persons with information about his whereabouts are asked to call the RVIPF at 311 or any Police Station. Persons can also call the Force Intelligence Unit at 368-9339.
