OPPOSITION MEMBER TELLS GOVERNMENT TO GO AFTER DELINQUENT EMPLOYERS ON THE NHI

Written by on July 8, 2020

Opposition member and Second District Representative Melvin Mitch Turnbull wants the Government to go after delinquent employers who continue to deduct monies from employees’ salaries for social security and National Health Insurance, NHI but are not paying it into the system.

Turnbull says this is why the NHI is failing because these employers are robbing the system. NHI needs to be properly funded because if it fails, the people fail.

Meanwhile Minister with responsibility for the NHI Vincent Wheatley said he can assure Turnbull and the public that the problem will be addressed and resolved.

Minister Wheatley said he is aware of the NHI problem and they are working for sustainable solutions.

And Premier Andrew Fahie said if its not reviewed it will bankrupt the BVI, its $42M now because of it not starting correct that they have to fork out every year into NHI, and with COVID-19 it hasn’t gotten less.
