MORE MONIES ALLOCATED FOR EDUCATIONAL IMPROVEMENT IN THE 2022 BUDGET

Government says it has allocated $800,000 is allocated in the 2022 Budget for the redevelopment of the Eslyn Henley Richez Special Needs Learning Centre, to provide a restored learning environment with smart and safe standards for students with special needs.

In his Budget Address, Premier and Minister of Finance Andrew Fahie said their special needs students deserve better, and in this Budget, better they will get.

The Finance Minister said that a further $1 million is allocated through local funding for rehabilitation and remedial works on various schools throughout the Virgin Islands, noting that they have agreed already as a Government that before the Budget process is over, to make sure that they maintain and address all the concerns of each school and that will be topped up to $2 million.

Premier Fahie announced that Mould remediation on all public schools will continue through 2022 and additionally, they are establishing virtual classrooms to accommodate COVID-19 impacted students with an alternative platform by March 2022.

He said the Government proposes to increase the funds available for school supplies by over $255,000 from last year’s allocation.
