MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE TO LOOK AT CRITERIA FOR DESIGNATING NATIONAL HEROES

Cabinet has appointed a management committee which would look at the criteria for designating National Heroes.
Word on this from the Deputy Premier and Culture Minister Dr. Nathalio Wheatley during the VIP’s Let’s Talk Programme last week.
Dr. Wheatley said it is important they celebrate persons in their history who contributed to the development of the territory.
He said those they refer to as National Heroes would be an exclusive set of individuals who did phenomenal feats which helped to change the trajectory of the Virgin Islands to where it is today.
The Minister said the Committee would come up with a proposed list of national heroes along with appropriate ways to honour them, it would then be taken back to cabinet which can officially propose National Heroes.
