JVD 24-HR CURFEW LIFTED FOLLOWING ALL NEGATIVE COVID-19 TESTS

The 24hour curfew which was imposed on Jost Van Dyke has been lifted, following the negative results of the 335 people for COVID-19.
In a statement Saturday evening, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health and Social Development Carvin Malone said he is very happy to report that the BVI Health Services Authority has concluded its testing of all close contacts, the vast majority of persons residing on the island, as well as several recent visitors to Jost Van Dyke, and all test results were negative for COVID-19.
Minister Malone said, 335 people on Jost Van Dyke, 20 on Tortola, and 3 on Virgin Gorda.
Minister Malone also said that as countries continue to grapple with the biggest international crisis in generations, he gives the assurance of Government’s commitment to carefully consider the serious risks posed to their small community with its unique social and economic vulnerabilities, and take decisive actions to safeguard their people against this deadly disease.
Meanwhile Premier Andrew Fahie said that some new measures will be but forward in terms of further strengthening the borders, especially at sea. This strengthening will ensure they know who is coming into the territory.
