Written by on June 9, 2020

The House of Assembly has voted no to reprimand Governor Augustus Jaspert, in a motion brought by the Third District Representative Julian Fraser. This was done last Friday, during a sitting of the House.

In the motion, Fraser said that Governor Jaspert violated section 20 (2), of the Audit Act when he neglected to deliver the Auditor General’s Special report about the BVI Airways deal within the legally prescribed three-month timeframe.

Fraser and 7th District Representative Dr. Nathalio Wheatley voted Yes to the motion, while all the other members voted No to the Motion, except at large member Shereen Flax Charles and 4th District Representative Mark Vanterpool who were absent. When he wrapped up debate on the Motion, Fraser said that the motion was a legitimate one and the person holding the Governor’s seat, was not above the law when it comes to a requirement in the House of Assembly.
