The indiscriminate dumping of garbage by persons in the community continues to be a major cause for concern, one the Health Minister Carvin Malone is hoping they can stamp out.
Almost on a daily basis at different parts of the territory, large bulky items such as old refrigerators, beds, furniture and wooden pallets could be seen at the dumpsters.
During a community meeting in the 7th District last week organized by the Representative Dr. Nathalio Wheatley, Minister Malone said they have put out in the 9-10 zones, contracts for which persons will bid on for garbage collection.
He said it is a big issue and they have expanded the terms of reference in the garbage collection to ensure the persons who are collecting the bins are responsible as well for cleaning around them.
Minister Malone said persons must also take personal responsibility on how they dispose of their garbage.
