Details
In the Virgin Islands we celebrate The Queen, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday (usually) on the 2nd Saturday in June yearly. However, this year we will be celebrating on Friday 7 June instead of the Saturday.
Each year we celebrate by hosting a Grand Parade through Road Town which comprises of civil servants, schools and parliamentary organisations. At the end of the Parade, a brief ceremony is held to honour officers of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force, Her Majesty’s Prison and the Virgin Islands Fire and Rescue Services for 18, 25 and 30 years of service.
The public is invited to witness this commemorative event at the Festival Grounds in Road Town with a start time of 4:00PM.
Here’s a fun fact! Although we celebrate The Queen’s birthday in June, she was actually born on 21 April.
