EMPLOYERS MUST BE IN GOOD STANDING WITH SOCIAL SECURITY AND NHI BEFORE WORK PERMITS ARE RENEWED

Government has announced new requirements for the renewal of work permits.
That announcement from Labour and Immigration Minister, Vincent Wheatley, who said that the policy changes have been implemented amid the COVID-19 pandemic that has caused multiple lay-offs locally.
Work permit holders who have been terminated and would like to seek alternative employment can apply for a conditional permit from the Chief Immigration Officer. That permit is valid for three months.
However, people are only eligible for this conditional permit if they were residing in the BVI for at least five years and have not received a conditional permit in the last three years.
