COMMISSIONER OF POLICE TERMS THIS YEAR AS A DIFFICULT ONE
Written by Fuze Social Team on December 2, 2021
Commissioner of Police Mark Collins has commended the officers and staff for their efforts during a difficult year.
The Commissioner was speaking at the first in-personal general force meeting since he took office in April of this year.
He said this has been a challenging year for the Force with the untimely death of Sergeant Algon Smikle and several unfortunate arrests.
But Commissioner Matthews said she saw impressive work from so many members of this organisation during his seven months in the post and he is looking forward to working alongside them in making the working conditions and environment one that supports them and the growth of the organisation.
He used the opportunity to address matters of concern to the officers such as increments, official duty, station expansion and recruitment. Matthews said about 115 officers and civilian staff were recognised for their work beyond the call of duty during the 2020 – 2021 work year, under the categories of Exemplary Policing, Meritorious Conduct, Exemplary Service and Excellent Customer Service.
