CHIP Programme Launched

The Complete Health Improvement Programme, CHIP has been launched which is expected to lead to a healthier population. Each session will run for about two hours. The course will be led by 23 certified facilitators who were trained in the Territory in November last year.

The CHIP programme was selected was to provide members of the community who need a roadmap to guide them in a behaviour change lifestyle intervention.

Speaking during the launch, Health Minister Carvin Malone said it marks another step towards a healthier Virgin Islands. 

Minister Malone said that the intention is to shake up in fostering better attitudes towards health and to encourage behavioural reflection of those changing attitudes.

The Health Minister said it encourages self-management, teaching them to voluntarily taking control of their health by making wise choices.

The Rotary Clubs in the BVI, through the District 7020 Governor Delma Maduro have pumped 10,000 into the programme and 100 people would be given scholarships to participate in the course.

Persons have also been sponsored by the Seventh District Representative Dr. Nathalio Wheatley as well as other representatives sponsoring sessions for 15 inmates at the Prison in Balsum Ghut.
