In a sudden turn of events, it was announced that the Chairman of the Festival and Fairs Committee Carnel Clyne has resigned.
His resignation was announced by the Culture Minister Dr. Nathalio Wheatley during last week’s Sitting of the House of Assembly. He said that Clyne resigned because of personal reasons.
The Minister used the opportunity to praise Clyne during his tenure saying that for the first time in 3 years, they have a Festival report, which was noticeably absent under the last administration.
During those years, they did not have a good account of how taxpayers’ money was spent, and Clyne helped to restore transparency and accountability with this report.

Minister Wheatley also said that under Clyne’s leadership, they have cleared all outstanding bills from as far back as 2017; this is the first time in many years that they are going into the festival season without any bills hanging over their head.
