Work on the long awaited modern tertiary sewerage treatment project for the Cane Garden Bay community is said to be underway.
Utilities Minister Kye Rymer said the construction phase of the project is expected to last nine (9) months, or until June 2022.
Rymer thanked the residents of the Cane Garden Bay community for their patience and understanding during this critical upgrade that will benefit the community.
The Minister at a recent sitting of the House of Assembly stated that his ministry was prioritising the Cane Garden Bay and East End communities for a “comprehensive overhaul and completion of the sewerage system”.
He said that the Cane Garden Bay Sewerage Project is being undertaken in two phases, adding that the project will yield a new Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) that will treat all sewerage within the Cane Garden Bay area. The plant that was on site in Cane Garden Bay was in service from 1994.”
