Akeya Herbert wins Junior Minister of Tourism competition

Congratulations to Ms Akeya Herbert on capturing the title of Junior Minister of Tourism 2019!
The Junior Minister of Tourism competition was designed with the goal of increasing students’ awareness of the tourism industry. Akeya along with 7 other contestants competed in a tourism speech competition at Maria’s By Sea last evening.
She won best interview, best video and was also awarded the best of 8 competitors at a staged Executive Dinner where the contestants had the opportunity to interact with executives of the BVI Tourist Board.
She will represent the Virgin Islands at the State of the Industry Conference (SOTIC) being held in St Lucia where she will compete regionally against other students in a similar type event.
Ms Kathlyn Archibald-Drew won 1st runner up and Ms Olivia Freeman won popularity. Other contestants were Shamorie Glasgow, Paige Fredricks, Nicklous Kanhai, Kiandra Meyers and Kavon Kisnasammy.
