Principal of the Virgin Islands School of Technical Studies, VISTS Ande Francis has said that the role of technical education, contributing to the growth of the territory cannot be over emphasised.
Francis made that comment during the graduation exercise of the school last Friday July 24th, which saw 20 students receiving their certificates.
The Valedictorian was Cianna Peters and the Salutatorian Dejonte George.
The Principal said they have faced setbacks with Hurricanes Irma and Maria, and the onset of Covid-19, but it was preparing them for a comeback.
He said that since the establishment of the technical school it has consistently endeavoured to meet the ever changing needs of the community and he urged the graduates to take advantage of the numerous opportunities which are available.
Education Minister Dr. Natalio Wheatley told the graduates they have shown that they have what it takes to make it in this world.
Dr. Wheatley said that as a government, they are working hard to ensure that the education system is aligned with the economy.
