Territorial wide, this brings the total number of persons tested to 3,824 with 3761 negatives. The BVI’s epidemiological summary as of September 7 remains at 52 active out of a total of 63 COVID-19 cases reported as positive with 10 recoveries and 1 death.

The Minister further reported that the Ministry of Health and Social Development continues an aggressive contact tracing strategy in accordance with World Health Organization technical guidance.

He said that in addition, the Joint Task Force of Customs, the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force, and the BVI Immigration Department together, with the newly instituted Social Distancing Monitoring Task Force established under the Ministry of Health and Social Development will aggressively discharge their duties in observance of border protection and health and safety protocols.

Malone continues to encourage the Virgin Islands community to report any illegal entry into the Territory by contacting telephoning 311.

“If you see something, say something; Do your part. We will get through this together.”
